RE: Better quality screen - Porcinus - 11-20-2019 The screen used on Zero/CM3 is not GBA compatible. About the link you posted, here is a better view of the ribbon cable : https://funnyplaying.com/collections/gameboy/products/gba For the screen specs : https://funnyplaying.com/collections/gameboy-advance-accessories/products/lg-3-19-inch-ips-lcd 3.19in 480x360x24bits MIPI interface Not sure there is any possibility to use this one :S RE: Better quality screen - maxmaxoumax - 11-20-2019 Oh well then.. but thank you for your help! RE: Better quality screen - Flavor - 11-21-2019 We have looked at that LCD, but not quite for the same reason. As Porcinus mentioned, that kit uses a MIPI DSI LCD. It also comes with that ribbon cable that adapts it from the signals that the GBA would send to the MIPI DSI spec. It's no simple matter, and it's VERY specific to the GBA. It would not work on the Freeplay Zero or CM3. RE: Better quality screen - Armisael - 03-16-2021 Honestly, I have been looking for a better screen for a hell a lot of time, however I could not find one. RE: Better quality screen - Flavor - 03-16-2021 We have, too, Armisael! There is a nicer looking IPS screen that's 2.8". We've considered making an adapter for that one. It would be a fair bit smaller viewable area, but the angles are nicer. I wonder if anyone would want that. I might be interested in something like that. What is the resolution of the smaller screen? We are also evaluating a new 640x480 3.5" LCD that we have recently found. The problem is that it uses a different technology, so it would require a new circuit board design. It would not work with the current design. It's the Freeplay Zero LCD, and there's no real way to retrofit it to the old models. |
