Nope - plugging all the way results in the single ear issue described above. I'll try shorting to see if it addresses the headphone issue.

Could you post a picture of the back of the pi to see what the connections look like?

Could you post a picture of the back of the pi to see what the connections look like?
I just went through and resoldered the back of the PI and its fixed the issue - probably a bad solder :/
