History of NGPC homebrew - Ahchay - 06-21-2026

Thought I'd do a little blog about the history of homebrew on the NGPC

I've tried to include most of the major events, but my memory isn't always reliable - let me know if you spot any glaring omissions or mistakes (I'm not 100% sure who did the 3D TIE fighter demo - was that Ivan or Thor?)

Oh, and if anyone had ivan's version of Mr do, if love to see that again. As far as I can tell most of the PD sites have got my version and I remember his being much better

It might be interesting to have a timeline of the hardware that enabled homebrew on the actual system.

I'm hoping we get to the point of new physical releases of games.

That's definitely worth doing at some point

I know of a few attempts at producing new carts, but the best one I've found is one alixx seller who will burn roms on demand. That's good for small batches at least

Pretty sure that that ones mine Sad  - See the attachment, mine on the left and "Ivan's" on the right

I can see where the confusion came in - we both released at about the same time
