CM3 Key Presses on Raspbian
#1
Hey, does anyone know if the buttons on the cm3 board emulate a standard keyboard? If so what characters are for each of the keys?

If this is wrong, does anyone know how to interface with the buttons on the cm3 board in raspbian?

They don't, but they can be made to do that, actually.

See https://github.com/TheFlav/Freeplay-Supp...eeplay.txt and the gpio-keys stuff in https://github.com/TheFlav/Freeplay-Support

That is a simple way to make the buttons appear as a keyboard in Raspbian. If you look at the .dts files, it should give you an idea of what button emulates what keypress.

The typical way that we do the buttons in RetroPie is with a kernel module that sets up a joystick. You can see that here https://github.com/TheFlav/mk_arcade_joystick_rpi

I'm interested in what you're working on doing with this. Maybe you could post some more info when you're ready.

Thankyou Flavor. Basically just a point and click, with fake 3d perspective.

I'll post something laterĀ if I have some cool drawings.

I had Shadowgate years ago, actually there are a lot of games I'd love to play just thinking about it. But, I'm going to use the shoulder buttons to create a panoramic perspective and a mouse with the main buttons.

I love making game art but I've only made simple sprites, so I hope to develop more detail.

Ah, it brings back memories.

But I really just like the interface, I'm thinking something more relaxing, and mystery.

I really can't wait. It's going to be so much fun.

Yeah, please let us know how it goes for you. It'll be quite nice to have something like this designed around the Freeplay CM3. Smile
