Can't download ROM to Flash masta
#1
Sad
Hi, I just got a flash masta (V5.3).
I have installed driver by Zadig successfully(WinUSB v6.1.7600.16385)(zadig_info.png).
Now, I can get cartridge Info by FlashMasta.exe (cartridge Info.png) but I cannot download ws rom by flash entire button successfully (error_info.png).
After downloading failed, the FlashMasta program crashed.

The error message as below:
An error occured  during operation.
a USB error occured: operation exceeded timeout: 2000 milliseconds.

I have tried different cables ,PCs and USB ports, still cannot download rom successfully.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

If you're using the "Flash Entire Cartridge" function, that's probably the wrong thing. You want to choose a slot and flash data to that.

If you already flashed the entire cartridge, then you will likely need to put the menu back into the first slot.
It can be found here: https://www.flashmasta.com/wp-content/up...-29-16.zip
and then use the "Flash Game Data" button when you have "Slot 1" selected.

Then maybe select "Slot 3" and try to write your game file to it. Make sure you are selecting a .wsc or .ws file (not a .zip).

Hi Flavor,
I tried to download WS-Flash-Masta-Menu-8-29-16.zip again and use the "Flash Game Data" button to write "flashmenu.ws" to "Slot 1".
I still couldn't write data to flash masta successfully(menu_slot1_00.png).
After trying to write menu data, I tried to write 2 games to slot 3 and slot 6, there are the same USB problems. (golden_axe_slot3_00.png, ultraman_slot6_00.png)

Now, I have no idea to solve the USB problems, could you give me some suggestions? Thanks.

One thing is that if you EVER get an error like that, you will need to unplug the device and then plug it back in. If the cartridge gets into an error state, it will no longer work after that until you remove power and then reconnect it.

I am looking into what else may be happening here.

Do you have any way to test this on a different computer or different operating system? I want to try to figure out if this is a problem with the cartridge or if it might be a driver issue on Windows or something like that.

In the meantime, please also look at this writeup to see if it gives you any new ideas.
