The best info we could get on this is to run
lsusb
when the WiFi dongle is connected.  Unfortunately, if you're not using a hub, there's not a good way to run that.

You could try this.
- Boot the machine and then way 10 seconds or so.
- Plug in the USB dongle and wait 10 seconds.
- Unplug in the USB dongle and wait 10 seconds.
- Plug in a keyboard.
- Hit F4.
- Type the following command and then hit enter.
dmesg
- Hold the shift key and hit the PAGEUP button twice (to scroll up 2 pages)
- Take a photo of the screen (even better to get a photo of the TV if HDMI is plugged in).
- Hold the shift key and hit the PAGEDOWN button once (to scroll down 1 page)
- Take a photo of the screen (even better to get a photo of the TV  if HDMI is plugged in).
- Hold the shift key and hit the PAGEDOWN button once (to scroll back to the bottom)
- Take a photo of the screen (even better to get a photo of the TV  if HDMI is plugged in).

Here's a screenshot that shows the USB device being plugged in.  I took it using the above process.  Notice where it says "New USB device found" and the idProduct=7811.  That's the WiFi dongle.  Not too long after that, it realizes it's a WLAN adapter by Realtek (the chip manufacturer).

I actually do have a USB hub, so I ran lsusb and got the following.
